Obviously CNY stands for Chinese New Year. The B meanwhile, is boring.
So it's Boring Chinese New Year. Lol.
My lameness shows how bored I am.
SERIOUSLY BORING!
I dare to claim that this year, CNY is the MOST boring of my entire life. All my relatives are so cutting steam (translation of potong stim) as this year they themselves are busy with their in-laws so they don't want to go back my Ipoh, my hometown. They claimed that since my grandparents are no longer around, so it's meaningless to have a reunion. So it means no card games and occasionally mahjong (strictly for leisure purposes only), noise, fresh air in the northern state area (I'm not crazy to miss it) and plenty, plenty of fun. AND ANGPAU!!!!!!!!!
Even the younger generation (me) has more enthusiasm to have a reunion than the elderly ones. Shame on you. =P
But that's the way is it. It's not like my words will make all of them go back. So what the heck I did during this period?
On CNY eve, I just had a family reunion dinner at home, then I played PC game, online for a while then I send smses to almost everyone connected to me before sleeping.
Damn boring right? =S
How I miss last year's CNY. By this time of last year I would have been busy making noise with my relatives.
Then on the first day of CNY, I woke up and watch the England vs Switzerland match. Lmao. Hardly the meaning of CNY isn't it? Haha. Anyway, it was Fabio Capello's first game in charge, and oh my after the first half, I thought England are gonna be Italy as they played boring football. But after second half, everything sprang into life, and I never see England putting in so much effort in getting the ball to win the opponents. 2-1 England. Come on Capello! =D So after that we went for breakfast in the uncannily quiet market place in Kepong Baru.
On usual days you cant even see the rubbish as it will be so packed.
That was in the morning.
Then in the afternoon, I rotted again. Seriously rotted! And now I discovered that rotting really requires skills. Lol. And I don't know why my parents so cutting steam (potong stim again) in arguing then not talking to each other. I'm so stuck in the middle man.
Where is the CNY spirit folks?
Nevertheless my first few angpaus arrived. And until now as I blogged, I only collected five angpaus.
FIVE MATE. Since the day I was born, by the end of second day of CNY every year, I would have been lost in counting my angpau money okay? =S =S Sad.
Second day.
Today. Today wasn't so bad. After having breakfast, I decided to go for a movie with my brother. Since my parents prefer to stay at home, I called GSC One Utama for reservations and I just failed to get through after like 20 times? Man it must be damn crowded my instincts told me. So after lunch we fleed through the unusually almost car-less LDP to One Utama and when I reached the New Wing entrance, I thought I don't need to line up in the cinema. To my surprise, it was people mountain people sea in the cinema entrance. Luckily the movie, Kung Fu Dunk by Jay Chou was at 2.20 pm so I just patiently waited and bought the ticket.
To think this was my first time watching Jay's movie, I didn't know what to expect. He doesn't look like he can act in a comedy movie as narrated by the synopsis in the papers, nor was he martial act actor. Furthermore, I'm not really a Jay fan so I decided to give it a shot since I also want to laugh a bit. Stephen Chow's CJ7 was my initial choice, but as we all know, stupidity is inevitable in his movies, so I don't wish to laugh like an idiot in the end.
So the movie kicked off with an instant hillarious beginning of Fong Sai Kit's past acted by you-know-who.
Fong Sai Kit playing basketball?
So Sai Kit grew up as an orphan after being abandoned by his father and he grew up in a martial art school in China. Already this catchy scene tells me that this movie is going to be very funny. It's when Sai Kit proclaimed that he made three girls fall for him in the past, and one of them would die for him.
But the reason of death?
The girl (saying to Sai Kit) : Nei zhoi gan ju ngo, ngo zhan hai SEI BEI NEI TAI AH!
It means if you keep stalking me, I'll really die in front of you. Lmao!
There are two more but I forgot. They were funny also. Anyway, he met this guy (acted by Eric Tsang) who propelled him to stardom as he discovered his talents in being accurate in almost anything, including throwing a coin into Eric Tsang's mouth from a good distance. Lol. Then he was arranged to join a basketball team and after some intensive training, he joined the team and helped to win the basketball tournament with his dunks. Typical stardom story and although it's damn fake, it still provided plenty of entertainment despite being a little tarnishing to the name of the basketball game. Jay with his surprisingly well-trained martial art moves and Eric Tsang's brilliant performance as his agent-cum-godfather put up together a terrific pairing. And also the "ice-cream" Charlene Choi. Those who watched should know haha.
A satisfied movie-goer
So after the movie I went for a walk around One Utama and try to get the CNY "oomph" but I know I failed.
I can't help but to admire this since my house doesn't have this.
So this was my second day of CNY. What's next? I seriously don't know. Who knows I may end up in cinema tomorrow again lol.
My next movie: Jumper =D
